Alisa Guinta

Alisa Giunta began dancing at the age of 5. She became a member of the Brandywine Ballet Company in West Chester, PA at 9 years old, and continued dancing with them until she graduated high school. She then went on to The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she received a BFA in Jazz Dance. Alisa started teaching dance at Longwood Performing Arts, in Kennett Square, in 1987 and still teaches there now. Alisa danced with Greg Thompson Productions and had the pleasure of performing with Merv Griffin, Tony Bennett, Harry Belafonte, and Trisha Yearwood.

Alisa took a barre class to see what it was all about and she was immediately hooked! She loved the challenge of weight training mixed in with the gracefulness of dance technique. I always feel strong after a barre class, like I really accomplished something... even if my legs feel like jelly! Alisa is very excited to teach barre class, and with her upbeat personality and some great music, you will be sure to get a great full-body workout in her class!

Nikki Kavadias

Nikki grew up in Drexel Hill where she began dancing at the age of 4; she continued dancing until she went off to college. Nikki is a 2005 graduate of Drexel University; holding a Bachelors of Science in Accounting with a minor in Communications. After college Nikki spent years in public accounting and found it difficult to resume dancing. She tried to supplement the void with various work outs however it wasn't until she discovered barre that she was able to form a well-rounded work out routine. Not only did barre totally transform her body but she found the hour-long class a pleasant reprieve from work.

Nikki has been a dedicated student of Kathy's for the past year. She is excited to be part of the Barre Balanced family and can not wait to foster the same joy and passion she has for barre.

Originally from Media, Pennsylvania, Alexa began dance training at the age of three. She further began her education throughout high school studying in the Academy of Notre Dame's performing arts program. She continued her training at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA where she obtained her BFA with honors in Jazz Dance Performance in 2013. Throughout her dance career, Alexa experienced training in a wide selection of styles of dance while attending regional and national conventions, competitions, and festivals. She has had opportunities to perform for the Philadelphia Phillies as well as the 76ers during this time.

She was formerly a dancer under Michael Susten's direction of the Xhale Dance Company for two years with whom she performed for Philadelphia Fringe Festivals, the Jazz Dance World Congress in Pittsburgh, PA, as well as Traci Stanfield's Synthesis Dance Project in New York City. In 2014, Alexa spent her year in Chicago training, dancing, and teaching under Giordano Dance Chicago, America's original jazz dance company. Not only has she shared her passion to perform, but also her passion to teach young dancers at local studios throughout the area. It was through teaching dance that Alexa discovered a new interest in fitness.

Upon moving back to the east coast, Alexa discovered barre fitness and instantly felt at home. Mixing her dance technique with her love for fitness clicked perfectly within this workout regimen. She was immediately drawn to the energy and camaraderie that the Barre Balanced studio atmosphere provides, as well as the dramatic effects on the body the barre technique has to offer. Her enthusiasm to create and teach within a healthy lifestyle inspired her to become an instructor. She desires to help all clients reach their goals, and strives to create a fun yet challenging environment each and every class!
